Ten things that happened to me this week

1. I discovered that my 16 year old daughter had had sex with her boyfriend in my house when I was out.
2. I took one of the mothers from the infants school to an emergency psychiatric outpatient clinic as she was having delusions.
3. I produced a detailed plan on how to improve life for the residents on the local estate where I am based. In an hour.
4. I had my wing mirror kicked off. Feckers.
5. I had my wing mirror fixed. Expensive Feckers.
6. I worked last Friday evening at our local community college youth club. Till 10pm.
7. I worked Saturday at the Dads club that I run, hence being out of the house when 1. occured.
8. I discovered that I am not at all cool with 16 year olds having sex in my house. In fact I am a total stiff about it.
9. I realised that my daughter is a virtual stranger to me and holds me and my views on sex in total contempt. Hard one, that, to get your head round.
10. I realised that having worked a full week and experienced all of the above, I am entitled to tell all and sundry to FECK OFF and leave me alone.

I realise that this is not a particularly exciting list, but believe you me, this is just the tip of a very large iceberg. And it's not even Friday.

ps: My darling son has now gone down with a virus, so I am doing the whole mummy thing AND trying to work from home.....fielding calls about all sorts from work, none of which I can do anything about, stuck here as I am!!!! However, good news is that my ex's dad will have my boy this afternoon, freeing me up to run an arts and crafts session from 3pm for 14 families AND a meeting with the police at 5pm about God knows what - I've totally forgotten and it was ME who called the meeting!!!!!!

I hear the merlot calling, calling, calling.......

pps: my wonderful sister has volunteered to have my daughter for the half term!!! Hurrah! My lovely boy is still at his dads and my lovely boyfriend is away for the night so I AM TOTALLY ALONE. I cannot tell you how wonderful this feels, even if the house is a tip and I've loads of work to catch up on! Just waiting till after The Archers (Phil RIP, boo hoo) to have a glass of merlot. In my PJs!!

Good grief! Can it only get better?

Are you a member of the Mad Manic Mothers? You certainly qualify, and you would be among friendly sufferers.

Mae, When I was teaching last year it really opened my eyes to the way that girls think sex is a recreational activity, I knew teenage boys did but it's just so not how I was at that age.(Irish Catholic mammy that I had made sure of that)

Have a great big drink, have another for me, I get this, truly I do xxxxx

what happened ?how did i get HERE? said...

Thanks girls....darling daughter has been giving ME the silent treatment all week as she feels very hard done by and of course it's all my fault...grrrr!!!! Like you , AG, I have an Irish Catholic mammy and she would've killed me had I 'done the act'(her words!!) in her house - even when I was married, any kind of 'bed' activity in her house was frowned upon!!! Hey ho. The kids are with their dad this weekend, so I'm off the have some fun with lovely boyfriend...who currently has a cold, thinks he is dying, and has left a trail of snotty hankys in his wake. I joking told him that I should be getting carers allowance for him considering all I do for him. I laughed. He didn't......hmm! Mae xxxxx

Whaaaat?! Not sure why you haven't been carted off to hospital after all that! How are you holding on to your sanity?

Oh wow, that is indeed quite a week! At least half term will be a bit quieter. The whole teen sex thing is tough. I have 4 teen step kids and Ive had to deal with a lot of issues there--including being the one asked for advice because they were too uncomfortable talking to their mum. While flatter, it is also a headache of responsibility!

Hope you get to enjoy that Merlot...

Gawd the whole DD having sex thing is SOOO hard isn't it. I had to cross that bridge last year, and found it so much harder than I thought I would.
If it makes you feel you have company, I've had no hot water for a week, the heater broke, my second daughter required stitches, my son had all the symptoms of meningitis which thankfully turned out not to be, but I did lose weight and hair pigmentation worrying on the way to the hospital, and my plans for alternative schooling for my more 'difficult' child, all fell through.
perhaps we could all agree to erase the past week and start again.

Oh dear, you really have my sympathy - good luck in dealing with all this - I have a fifteen year old daughter and def would not be cool about it either!

yeah, I often wonder why we do this crazy, busy-ness to ourselves. And so I have decided to start de-cluttering my life. the only thing is my 16 year old daughter reads my blog so I guess if I wrote about her sex life in there, there would be two dead people in the house!!!!!! Very brave!!!

I relate to your manic life and have even given up alchohol this year which makes life . . . . . .different!

Hope the merlot works and I would love to come to your arts and crafts session - art, my favourite, and the thing that keeps me sane!!

Holy Cow!!!! I need the merlot, merlot, merlot, just READING about your week! By the way, had a great laugh at partner getting you vaseline for valentine's day. My husband is slowly learning what jokes and "funny" videos will not elicit the desired response from me. With two babies teething I do not have the energy to humour him. Pun intended. :)

You have done some amazing things this week and should be extremely proud of yourself. The daughter issue is a big challenge, but I can see you'll tackle it perfectly. I'm in awe - you may actually be superwoman...
